New NSW Laws for Child Entertainers – Download the Factsheet

The NSW Parliament has introduced stronger protections for children under 16 working in entertainment, exhibition and promotional industries.

From 2025, businesses employing or engaging children in film, television, modelling, advertising, live shows, online content, or promotional work must:

  • Hold a valid Employer’s Authority from the Office of the Children’s Guardian
  • Comply with new limits on hours and conditions of work
  • Avoid significant penalties for breaches (up to $11,000 per offence)

These changes matter for any organisation involved in media, performance, or promotional work with children.

👉 We’ve created a one-page factsheet that explains the amendments, who’s covered, and how your business can stay compliant while protecting children.

acknowledgement of country and abuse victims
The On Us: Australian Business Coalition for Safeguarding Children acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters across Australia in which we share. We honour and pay our respects to Elders past and present and acknowledge the many thousands of years in which First Nations’ peoples have raised their children to be safe and strong. We also acknowledge the spirit and courage of victims and survivors of childhood abuse, exploitation and violence. Their efforts over many years have inspired our commitment to make changes at every level to better protect the children of today.
