OBE Organic Joins the On Us Coalition to Champion Child Safeguarding

On Us: Australian Business Coalition for Safeguarding Children is pleased to announce that OBE Organic, a leading Australian producer of organic beef, has joined our growing coalition of businesses committed to safeguarding children and young people. We believe it is on us to learn, share, advocate, and act so that children and young people are safe wherever they are. This partnership marks a significant step in expanding our mission, demonstrating that every business, regardless of whether they work directly with children, has a vital role in keeping children and young people safe. OBE Organic is the first agriculture business to join the Coalition.

Phil Doorgachurn, Executive Director of the On Us Coalition, welcomed OBE Organic’s commitment: “We are delighted to welcome OBE Organic to the On Us coalition. Their dedication to ethical, sustainable practices aligns perfectly with our mission to protect children from harm. It is inspiring to see businesses across various sectors take a stand for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, recognising that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, no matter the industry.”

Dalene Wray, Managing Director of OBE Organic, shared her enthusiasm for the new partnership: “At OBE Organic, we believe in doing business that is good for animals, people and our planet. Joining the On Us Coalition is a natural extension of this philosophy. We are proud to be part of a movement that places the safety and wellbeing of children at the forefront of its efforts and are committed to ensuring that our operations and supply chains reflect these values.”

“The On Us Coalition is bringing Australian businesses together to co-design and drive action on child safeguarding. This cross-sector initiative seeks to strengthen the capability and commitment of Australian businesses to safeguarding policies and practices. We are joining the Coalition because we think that we can and need to contribute to collective.

“We who live, work and derive business benefit from regional Australia, know how to do active surveillance. We do it all the time when it comes to biosecurity and animal welfare. We know how to work together as an industry to meet the changing needs of consumers when it comes to the environment or climate change or animal welfare. As a member of the Coalition, OBE Organic will support efforts to promote the safety and wellbeing of children across the agriculture industry.”

acknowledgement of country and abuse victims
The On Us: Australian Business Coalition for Safeguarding Children acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters across Australia in which we share. We honour and pay our respects to Elders past and present and acknowledge the many thousands of years in which First Nations’ peoples have raised their children to be safe and strong. We also acknowledge the spirit and courage of victims and survivors of childhood abuse, exploitation and violence. Their efforts over many years have inspired our commitment to make changes at every level to better protect the children of today.
